Reviews & Testimonials
“As a busy mom, I look forward to my weekly BJJ classes at NWJJA Maple Ridge. My Jiu Jitsu journey began almost 11 years ago after months of watching my son, and then my husband, join Jiu Jitsu and love it, I decided I needed to try it too.
With Jiu Jitsu training I have gained strength, confidence in my acquired skills and made some great friendships. I highly recommend NWJJA to anyone that wants to be part of a school that has students that want to be there to learn, grow and respect others.”

“As a woman training in jiujitsu, it is important to me that I can always feel safe in my school. My instructor, Perry Bateson always treats me as an equal in the school, and always ensures my safety.
We can train hard, but we are always taught how to keep each other safe. His positive attitude is reflected in how all the students treat each other. All students are treated with equal respect.

“I have been training at Batesons and NWJJA for 19 years. Under the experienced guidance of coach Perry Bateson, I have been trained in various martial arts here over the years, including, Tae Kwon Do, boxing, kick boxing, Kung Fu, self defence and Jiu Jitsu. I have become a well-rounded martial artist, focusing specifically on Tae Kwon Do and Jiu Jitsu.
The school also has a character development program with a new word each month. I have used the tools I learned in the character development program in my day to day life and also practice these words with my 3 daughters using the work sheets and “Parents Perch”.
